Female programmers? Interesting.
While surfing the net, I came across an article about the rareness of female programmers. Out of curiosity, I clicked. It was some guy rambling on about how there aren't enough girls developing software. Throughout his article he made several rude puns and jokes about female competency. Personally, I thought his argument was immature and disrespectful, but it got me thinkin'.
First and foremost, to each his own. A person can be whomever they want to be. If a girl wants to be a lumberjack, goddamnit she can be a lumberjack. I'm not a feminist, but people really need to stop this 'gender segregation' crap.
However! Programming, more than likely, does not interest most gals in today's world. The majority of the ladies are too busy shopping for shoes, oooh'ing over boys and applying makeup - according to the female stereotype anyways (not that I disagree). There really isn't much more to it; most women just aren't interested in programming. In fact, I'm sure that a lot of people aren't interested in programming-- not just girls. Programming can be such a difficult task filled with many intricacies, roadblocks and headaches. A great portion of the population either does not have the time, patience or the brains for it. So that is one good reason why women (most people, actually) might not want to dive into programming as it can be a huge, time-consuming challenge. People are lazy as it is.
I myself have have not seen many female programmers. But I think girls will eventually overrun the programming industry and do just as well as the boys. Web/Graphic design (different from actual programming, imo) is already popular with women. Just have patience, guys. =]
So. I am female and I am a programmer. In the time span of a year and a half, I have self-taught myself XHTML, CSS, PHP, SQL and some Javascript. Am I a professional web developer? No. Am I seeking a job in this field? No. But do I have the skill to do it? Why yes I do. Creating webpages is one of my favorite ways to pass time. Programming teases my brain and it's like a puzzle. Puzzles are fun. ;) Lastly, do I care about stereotypes? Hell no.
Also: I have ran Linux before, I know how to use the Terminal and I am generally well-versed in things involving technology. I call it dedication, diligence and being open minded, but you may call it girl power. =]
Cassie and Clara both believe that women are intimidated by the 'stereotypical threat'. I agree, to some extent. However, if programming is a field that you really like, you're not going to let some alpha male spook you ('least I wouldn't). Besides, us girls like competition, don't we? I sure do. Without competition, things would be awfully boring.
Peep this before I go. I thought it was neat, too bad I missed it.

RIP Michael Jackson
I just heard that he passed away. My entire family are huge Michael Jackson fanatics. Such a shame.

Silly children
Today I came across a video of this pathetic kid who just had his WoW account canceled. The faggot hops around his room, tries to fuck himself with a remote and hits himself repeatedly with a shoe.
Also, his brother is my hero for the day... That kid is pretty fucking amazing; so devious, but I like it.
See? Laughing at the mentally challenged can be fun.

Cheeto Pervs!
So this morning, I was being a fatty and eating this bag of Cheetos - Giant. Apparently it's a new flavor and 'style' that they have invented. Instead of the normal Cheeto, they decided to create these.. cheese puff balls. While decent in flavor, the back of the bag caused me to raise an eyebrow.
I took this pic to show you:Sounds pretty dirty to me. But maybe my mind is in the gutter or perhaps the marketing guy is just a creep. Most likely the latter of the two.

Boring
Yet another boring eventful day. So boring that I decided to update my blog! Lately, life has been going pretty swell. I finally graduated (fuck yes) and I am enjoying my summer with Danny, my lazy significant other.
Graduation pic. Whoo-hoo! Me and my sisterrrrrr.
Ignore the black, swirling orb! It gives me power! Ignore the incorrect date too, my mom's camera hasn't been properly configured.
Anywho. Thats all for now. Bye now. <3

Every since I met you, you have been like a big brother to me.
Believe it or not, you made my life worth the while :]
I'm your shortie, your Lilo... and you, are my obsession

I'm goin' to Florida for Spring Break with my besties: Jackie, Angela and Dan =]]] I am so surprised my mom didn't give me shit for wanting to go [and for making her pay for it].
We leave on the 8th of April! Wish me a happy birthday on the 11th as I will be celebrating my birthday there too. Our return date isn't certain yet -- not that I want to come back anyways.
Much love everyone<3

Fun Day
Today was a fun day. I don't have too many of those anymore. Even though I was hanging about a bunch of freshmen, I had a damn good time. =]
Best part was when the black chick was heckling me to spit my gum out. Silly woman.
And this is funny (Troy<3):

A Lovely Day
Today was a hectic, yet lovely day. Even though I was buried up to my neck with homework, Jackie was absolutely adorable today. She always manages to brighten things up. I swear she took her happy pills today (ilyjackie). If all I had in this world was my dear Jackie, I would be so fucking happy ♥ She fncking completes me omfgdfjmdsgk
Today, I was picked to fill a chaperone position for the freshman field trip. Haha, that should be fun. Even more fun if Jackie was going to be there. But then again, I would be all over her and too lovey-dovey to do my job.
Ughhh. I still have iron, shower and do my hair. I think i'll be girly and look nice for tomorrow. :]
Or not. Depends on my mood. :\
And yes, the song is for you, hun<3

Being able to tear your hair out is a talent.
I have to be thee most gullible, yet empathetic person on the face of the Earth. :(
I always find myself volunteering/agreeing to carry out tasks when I know that I don't really want to. Today, I missed school for various reasons:
- I can't drive in heavy rain because my mother is a hypocritical cunt.
- I felt like shit; my body ached all over, I lacked pep && motivation, etcetera.
- I felt emo and what not. I slept the entire day away, passed up an offer to go to mall, etc. Depression, ew. No worries; it had a lot to do with my physical pain.
Quick breakdown: Because it is only my twit of a brother, my lazy step-father, my ill mother and I in the house, I am often the designated person to run all of the errands. I don't have much of a life, so I don't mind. But when it's was made obvious that my own family members are using me, I got ticked off.
Why the fuck would you ask a person to run errands for you when you refuse to give them gas money, slap a curfew on them, and of course, make it obvious that you are using them? I don't work; my mother's rule pretty much bans me from doing so. (she creates these wicked rules under the inane theory of "we are prominent && you don't have to work") I love her to death, but I honestly do not understand her logic. I digress =\ I had more to say, but fuck it. Thats enough ranting for now<3

Graduation
I graduate May 21st and goddamn, it can't get here any faster. I'll have the opportunity to work during the day and get out of this house. I can't stand it here. :\
Rhonda likes quiet, idiot-free places. :]
